Chaarfutiya Chhokare is the story of NehaMalini (Soha Ali Khan) who arrives at a tiny village rather ‘kasba’ in Bihar to start a new school. She runs into a racket of prostitution and child trafficking carried out by the local gangster Lakhan played by ZakhirHussain. She also comes across a trio of 13 year old boys with whom she develops a bond. These boys engage in criminal activity and Neha makes it her mission to free the village from these vices and to get these children to school.
The plot in theory sounds inspiring but Manish Harishankar’sChaarfutiyaChhokare lacks basic logic. There is no back story about why the village is in this condition or how Neha (Soha Ali Khan) lands up in this village. The treatment is amateur and you don’t feel a sense of attachment with even the children in this movie. The leader of ChaarfutiyaChhokare called Avadesh (Mayar) is married off at this tender age and the movie shows no resistance from any section against this child marriage. SeemaBiswas who plays Avadesh’s mother is the only one worth mentioning, she as always acts well. However, everything else in this movie is senseless and misguided. This movie is a lame attempt at highlighting grievous social issues.
